Residential Development
The histogram presented below shows the distribution of perspectives on the critical issue of residential development. This was one of the issues identified in the Vision Edina Think Tank workshop as being important to the future of Edina. It is especially important as the mix of housing options available within any community can strongly influence who is both able to and chooses to live in that community.
Vision Edina Residential Development
- The consensus position on the balance between single-family and multi-unit residential development is strongly tilted towards single-family housing.
- Younger residents and women are in slightly more favor of an expansion of housing options, though the consensus never moves beyond the midpoint.
- Non-residents are also in favor of more multi-family housing options, but even they recognize that an emphasis on single-family housing is one of the defining characteristics of Edina.
